PREMIER LEAGUE – Liverpool Star Xherdan Shaqiri Warns Manchester City On Title Race
The Reds kept the pressure at the top of the standings with a tough 3-0 victory at Watford on Saturday, their tenth in 13 league games so far this season.
Jurgen Klopp‘s men remain only two points behind the Man City, although the Pep Guardiola champions have shown no sign of heat in recent times, winning 4-0 at West Ham, while Liverpool was grafted onto Vicarage Road.
However, it promises, at least, to be a more difficult quest than last season, with The Reds better equipped to last the course than for many years. His clean sheet on Saturday means that they have now started as the best in a defensive season, with only five goals conceded in 13 games.
Shaqiri was all smiles when he stopped talking to reporters after the Watford game. Clearly, the Swiss star is enjoying his kick after his summer exchange of 13million pounds (14.7 million euros / 16.7 million dollars) from Stoke.
And he had a message for the city.
“We’re going to be there until the end!” he grinned. “We don’t have to look to Man City, we just have to look to ourselves and try to give our good performance on the pitch and win games, that’s the most important thing.
“Every game has its own history and we have to look game to game and not look where we’re staying at the end of the season. When you win games like this, we’re going to fight to the end for a lot of things so I think we just have to keep going, keep working hard and win games.”
